Linen bedding with sustainable international quality marks
Casa Comodo linen bedding is made of linen with an Oeko-Tex® and a Masters of FLAX FIBRE™ (formerly European Flax Fibre™) quality mark. Why did we choose linen with these important sustainable international quality marks? Sustainability, safety, optimum comfort and quality are the most important keywords here.
Let’s start at the beginning. What is linen fabric with an Oeko-Tex® and Masters of Flax Fibre™ label? And why it is so important that linen is Oeko-Tex® and Masters of Flax Fibre™ certified.
What is an Oeko-Tex® quality mark?
An Oeko-Tex® quality mark guarantees the consumer that the textile does not contain any harmful substances or chemicals . The linen fabric is tested for harmful substances, from thread to end product. If it meets the high safety requirements, the linen is awarded the Oeko-Tex® quality mark. This quality mark means that it is safe for everyone’s health. Every thread, button or other accessory on the end product is tested for more than 1000 harmful substances.
Is there a lot of skin contact with the end product, such as with bedding? Then the product undergoes an even more stringent test.
The fact that all these tests are necessary shows how important it is that the textiles you buy have an Oeko-Tex® quality mark. If you buy linen bedding with an Oeko-Tex® quality mark, you are assured of a safe product without nasty chemicals
What is a Masters of Flax Fibre™ certification?
The Master of Flax Fibre™ quality mark guarantees the traceability of the flax fibres from which the linen is made. The vegetable fibre is grown in Western Europe and comes from environmentally friendly agriculture without irrigation or GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). Masters of Flax Fibre™ is an internationally registered trademark of the Alliance for European Flax-Linen.
If you buy linen bedding with this quality mark, you are assured of:
No irrigation
No GMO seeds
Low use of fertilizers, no defoliants
Zero waste of fibers , really all parts of the plant are used. Also the seeds (linseed oil)
It is a 100% plant-based and vegan fiber
The flax fibres are produced according to the regulations of the International Labour Office.
